Is this a government ID?
No. YourID is an information site about trusted digital credentials. Credentials are issued by trusted organisations and held in a wallet you choose. No government endorsement is stated or implied.
Does this website hold my information?
No. The site does not issue, hold or verify credentials. Your credentials stay in your digital wallet, and you decide what to share.
Do I have to use a digital credential?
Using a digital credential is your choice. Each organisation decides what it accepts, so check with them about the options available to you.
What happens if I lose my phone?
You can lock your wallet remotely and restore your credentials on a new device after confirming it’s you. Recovery depends on the wallet you choose, so check each provider’s recovery process.
What is accreditation?
Digital identity providers can be accredited under the Digital Identity Services Trust Framework, and accredited providers are listed on a public register. Accreditation is voluntary, and providers that have not sought it are not less trustworthy for that.
A simpler, more connected New Zealand
Trusted digital credentials help make everyday interactions easier, more secure and more inclusive, giving New Zealanders more control over their information and more opportunities to participate in life, wherever they are.
